Mission Kayaking has just received it's first shipment of new pfd's [personal flotation devices] or lifejackets.
These new pfd's have been designed by Clare Cosson a well known paddler and product designer from Christchurch. These new pfd's of which there are 3 in the range so far are only the start as Mission looks at adding other pfd's to their range very soon. Check out our accessories section for details on these great new pfd's.

The mould for this exciting new style kayak arrived at our factory this week. We’ve already made a few to get the release cycles, cooking times and temperatures and overall thickness just right.
After a few trials we’ve been successful in moulding our first few Catch 390’s. This is a very new and innovative sit on top kayak that’s stable with lots of storage and access areas for you to store all your gear or just fish from as it’s name suggests.
Fresh out of the mould.
A quick trim to help get our Catch 390 out of the mould.
And here it is ready to be assembled with hatch lids, tie off points, bungy strap holders and even adjustable footrests.
Notice the storage area next to the footwell, there are lots of neat storage areas in our new Catch 390
Just a heads-up to all paddlers about cleaning gear for Didymo. The other day we had a customer drop off a deck for some warranty work. Basically the water-proof coating was delaminating. Turns out that he had cleaned the deck after use in a South Island river with a bleach based solution. While we did replace this deck, we would prefer not to do this too often.
Many of you will be aware of the issues with chlorine from your days in swimming pools playing canoe polo. Even the low levels of chlorine in pools tend to degrade spray decks and other paddling gear.
We would suggest in accordance with MAF (http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/didymo) the use of a 5% biodegradable detergent solution. Also the use of household disinfectant containing the active ingredient benzalkonium chloride. Biosecurity New Zealand has advised that "Having reviewed this chemical, we consider that Benzalkonium chloride would be covered in the decontamination recommendations for Didymo in the antiseptic hand cleaner category."
Remember: DO NOT USE CHLORINE BASED PRODUCTS IF YOU WANT YOUR GEAR TO STAY WATER PROOF.
We've been working on new designs for this season and our new fishing sit on top kayak is not too far away. We've incorporated lots of the features that you've been asking for. More pictures will be available soon......
